π Supporting Local Businesses in Crewe Central π‘
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Best Nest, a fantastic new estate agency located at 220 West Street, Crewe. Itβs always inspiring to see new businesses opening their doors and investing in our community. π
Local businesses are the backbone of our economy, and as Crewe faces challenges in its town centre, itβs more important than ever to support ventures like this that bring opportunity, create jobs, and build a sense of pride in our area.
A huge thank you to the team at Best Nest for inviting me to celebrate this milestone with them. Wishing them every success in the futureβour community is lucky to have you! If youβre in the area, be sure to stop by and check them out. π
Iβm on itβchampioning local businesses and ensuring Crewe Central continues to grow and thrive!

π Supporting Crewe Centralβs Local Businesses π‘
Iβm pleased to announce that Iβll be attending the Grand Opening of a new business in Crewe CentralβBest Nest, an estate agency opening at 220 West Street, on Friday, 10 January. Iβll be there from 10:30 am, showing my support for this exciting addition to our community.
As Crewe Town Centre faces ongoing challenges, itβs more important than ever to support local businesses. They create jobs, bring opportunities, and help strengthen the local economy. Best Nestβs arrival is a positive step forward, and Iβm on itβchampioning initiatives that help Crewe thrive.

β¨ Working Together for a Cleaner Crewe! β¨
On the 27th, we joined Crewe, St Barnabas – Councillor James Pratt and a brilliant team of community volunteers for a few hours of litter-picking at Leighton Brook Park. ποΈπΏ
It was wonderful to see residents of all ages come together, showing true community spirit. Together, we collected around 20 bags of waste β including some unusual items, like a ride-on car π!
James is a dedicated councillor whoβs clearly passionate about making a difference in his ward. It was fantastic to team up with him and so many others committed to keeping our public spaces clean and beautiful. π
Weβd also like to join James in thanking Ansa Environmental Services Ltd for their support in collecting the waste. π
This event was a great reminder of what we can achieve when we work together. πͺ Weβre On It! π

π¨οΈ Check on Your Neighbours! π¨οΈ
With temperatures dropping this week, it’s more important than ever to check on our elderly and vulnerable neighbours and family members. π§£βοΈ
The recent cuts to the Winter Fuel Payment by Labour have left many pensioners without vital support, increasing the risk of fuel poverty among the elderly. This is unacceptable, especially during such cold weather.
If you or someone you know is struggling to keep warm, help is available:
Cold Weather Payment: Eligible individuals can receive Β£25 for each 7-day period of very cold weather.
Warm Home Discount: A one-off Β£150 discount on electricity bills for those on certain benefits.
Household Support Fund: Support provided by local councils in various forms.
Age UK Advice Line: Call 0800 678 1602 for free advice, 8am-7pm, 365 days a year.
British Red Cross Support Line: Call 0808 196 3651 if isolated due to snow or ice.
Letβs come together as a community to ensure everyone’s safety during this cold snap. Stay warm and reach out for help if needed. βοΈπ€

π§ Quick Update on the West Street Pothole Repair π§
Good news! The dangerous pothole on West Street has been repaired, making the road much safer for all users. π A big thank you to the team for acting so swiftly!
However, during the repair, I noticed that the nearby drain has been left partially blocked with tarmac, creating a new issue. This is disappointing as it could lead to drainage problems and further inconvenience for residents.
π¬ Iβve already followed this up with the council and asked for the matter to be investigated and addressed as a priority. Iβve also stressed the need for a review of contractors’ procedures to prevent similar issues in future. Ensuring accountability and high-quality work is essential to avoid wasting funds and to maintain public trust in council operations.
Rest assured, Iβm ON IT and will keep you updated! πͺ

π¨ Important Update on West Street Pothole π¨
π Location: Opposite 403 West Street, Crewe
π Reports Logged: 9 on FixMyStreet so far!
Iβve been closely monitoring the situation, and Iβve seen firsthand the growing number of public reports about this dangerous pothole. The photos speak for themselves: this is a serious hazard to vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. ππ²πΆββοΈ
π‘ Rest assured, IβM ON IT! Iβve already contacted the relevant teams at Cheshire East Council and am pushing for urgent action to ensure the safety of everyone traveling in this area.
Whatβs next?
Iβll continue keeping an eye on FixMyStreet reports.
Updates will follow as soon as I hear back from the council.
π A big thank you to everyone whoβs taken the time to report this issueβit highlights the power of community action. Together, weβll get this sorted!

West Street Dug Up Again! π§π€ β But Iβm On It!
Would you believe it?! π² West Street is being dug up for the third time β just weeks after the completion of the new 20mph project. π«£
I completely understand the frustration of residents and local businesses who are dealing with yet more disruption. It’s unacceptable that a project completed so recently is already needing further work. Rest assured, Iβm on the case!
Iβll be pressing for answers on: πΉ Why this has happened again. πΉ What lessons can be learned to prevent repeat failures. πΉ How we can minimise the impact on our community going forward.
We deserve better, and I wonβt let this slide without getting accountability and solutions.
If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to message me β together, we can keep holding decision-makers to account!

West Street Safety Update β A Joint Achievement for Crewe πΆββοΈπ¦½
David Simcox – Crewe and I, Councillor Roger Morris , are pleased to share that after months of hard work, the hazardous footway on West Street has finally been repaired β just in time for winter! βοΈ
This repair didnβt come easily. Together, weβve sent numerous emails, complaints, and enquiries to Countryside, Vistry Group, and Cheshire East Council. We couldnβt stand by while pedestrians, especially those with pushchairs, wheelchairs, and mobility aids, were forced into the road due to flooding and potholes.
π§οΈ The issue was complicated by the developer losing planning permission and the December embargo on roadworks. But we kept pushing, and thanks to the Highways team, a temporary repair has now been completed. π
π§ A permanent repair is planned for the new year, and we will continue to monitor progress to make sure it happens.
We want to thank the Highways team for stepping up to make this area safer, even though this was the developerβs responsibility. And to everyone in the community whoβs shared our frustration and concern, we appreciate you sticking with us as weβve worked to get this sorted. Weβre your neighbors, and like you, we just want our streets to be safe for everyone.
Weβre not done yet β your safety is our priority, and weβll keep pushing until this is fully resolved! π§β

π§ West Street Update π§
Iβve seen the condition of the ongoing works on West Street and, like many of you, I had concerns about the current state. I immediately raised these issues with the councilβs Traffic and Design team, and Iβve had reassurances from them that this is not the final work. ππ
The damaged kerbs are due to be replaced, and the tarmac you see is temporary β new tactile paving will be laid over the coming weeks to improve safety for all. The team has confirmed they are working to reuse original paving stones where possible, keeping the character of the area intact. ποΈβ
Iβll be keeping a close eye on this project to ensure the standards we expect are met. Your concerns are my priority, and Iβll keep you updated as the work progresses. π¬

πΆββοΈ Starting This Week: Visiting Every Home in Crewe Central!
As your councillor, I believe it is essential to not just be visible at election time but to be available year-round for all residents of Crewe Central. This week, I will begin visiting homes and businesses across our ward, starting with the vital areas of Crewe Town Centre.
Our town centre desperately needs focus and revitalisation, and I want to hear directly from you what your priorities are. Whether you voted for me or not, I am here to serve everyone. Together, we can drive Crewe back to where it used to beβthriving and full of opportunity.
This is not just about policyβitβs about listening and acting on the concerns of the people I represent. Your voice matters, and I am here to ensure it is heard.

π¨ **PROPOSED CUTS TO BLACK BIN COLLECTIONS!** π¨
**Time to Speak Up, Crewe!**
First, they charged us Β£56 for green bin collections, then hiked it to Β£59. Now, our **Labour-led Cheshire East Council** wants to cut the frequency of black bin collections from every 2 weeks to every 3! π€―
**BLACK BINS ONLY EVERY 3 WEEKS?!**
This is a recipe for **overflowing rubbish,** more fly-tipping, and a real mess on our streets in **Crewe Central.** ποΈβ
Letβs not forgetβ**Crewe is already the fly-tipping capital of Cheshire East!** Out of 4,238 incidents across the borough, a staggering **3,242** happened right here in Crewe. Thatβs over three-quarters of all the fly-tipping in Cheshire East happening just in our town!
This is not the future we want for our community. **We deserve better.** Letβs send a clear message to those in charge:

π¨ Feeling Let Down by Our MPβs Choice! π¨
I was truly disappointed to learn that our local MP, Connor Naismith, has voted in favour of cutting the Winter Fuel Payment for pensioners. This isn’t just another policy decision β it’s about real lives and real anxieties right here in our community. π
Decisions like this shouldn’t be about following the party line. They should focus on the people who put you in office, and that means looking out for the most vulnerable among us. I find it hard to understand how anyone could vote for this cut, especially with the expected rise in utility costs. βπ₯
We have to remember that politics is meant to serve people, not political interests. It’s about making choices that protect those most in need. Iβm committed to standing by our community, whatever it takes. πͺπ‘
A reminder to all pensioners: Please check if youβre entitled to Pension Credit β it can make a big difference. π You can call Age UK on 0800 731 0160 for help. I’ve spoken to many people who aren’t aware they could claim β donβt miss out on support thatβs there for you!

π This morning, I wrote to our local MP, Connor Naismith, urging him to vote against the proposed cuts to the Winter Fuel Payment for pensioners in Parliament today. π«βοΈ
From talking to many of you on the doorstep, I know how deeply worried people are, especially with the expected 10% rise in utility bills this year. We need to protect our pensioners and make sure they donβt have to choose between heating their homes or affording the basic essentials. π π₯π₯Ά
Letβs make our voices heard! π¬πͺ

π What a fantastic morning at School Crescent! π
The opening of the new playground was a tremendous success! π This playground is a shining example of the regeneration happening right here in Crewe, bringing vibrant spaces for our community to enjoy. π³
It was the perfect day out for everyone, and I’m thrilled to see how this park will continue to be a hub of joy and togetherness for our wonderful Crewe community. I had an absolute blast trying out the new playground equipment and hope that everyone who visits in the future has as much fun as we did at the grand opening.
Let’s keep the community spirit alive! π

This is the alleyway at the back of the houses on West Street next to the new Goddard Street development.
I am very disappointed at the way that cables have been layed, instead of reinstating the blue blocks that have been there since time began they have replaced with tarmac which I personally feel is unacceptable.
Let me know your thoughts as I am finding it very difficult to rectify.
We had a great day today litter picking at the Coppenhall Place estate just off West Street.
Thanks to Claire & David for organising the litter pick, it was a great success with a good take up from the residents.
Great to see you all today and also to discuss the on going issues that you have.
Many thanks for all your continued support.
We had a great morning on Saturday with the βCrewe Clean Teamβ
